Scipio

Well last week Elsie and I experienced several firsts. It was our first time celebrating the 24th of July and our first trip to Scipio UT. For those of you who are not from Utah the 24th of July is a state holiday. It is a celebration of the day the pioneers arrived in the valley to settle Utah. There are parades and programs and lots of fun all over the state. We happened to be in a little town called Scipio for the 24th. We went there with Will's step mom Mary. She actually grew up in this little town of 300 or so residents. Of course things have changed but not that much. It still has a little parade on the 24th then a program which includes a speech by Miss Scipio followed by a talent show. Later that day they had some games in the park including races which Elsie ran in and won 2 quarters. She was probably third out of the 5 or 6 tow year old girls that raced. That night there was a town dinner. If we had stuck around the next day we could have seen the rodeo...but alas we had to come back home.

While we were in Scipio we got to meet and hang out with lots of Mary's nieces and nephews and their kids. While there was only one little boy around Elsie's age there were lots of little girls for Elsie to look up to an imitate. They played dress up, jumped on the trampoline and played hide and seek. It was lots of fun. We also got to see the family horses and try to feed them some hay. Elsie was too scared to do it herself but she did hand the hay to grandma to do it. Here are a few photos from the weekend. I might try to get some parade pictures up later.
