Crazy Hair day

Here are a bunch of photos of Elsie's hair on Crazy Hair day for school. As you can see we made a lot of little ponies and used all different color hair ties.

Halloween

We did our first Halloweenish thing this week. We went to a fun shopping area that decorates with a ton of witches. The witches are all life size or larger and they are doing all sorts of things. Maybe a will try and go back to get more shots of the witches, they are great. We met several friends there so that was fun too.

New Golf Clubs

Elsie got new golf clubs from Grandpa Larry. They were her uncles when he was little and now they are hers. Will wanted to putt some balls on the putting greens so we went over and did some putting too. They are a bit too big for her still but she loved it!

The State Fair

We try to make it to the State Fair every year and this year was no exception. We were only there for one evening and mostly walked around and saw the animals and a huge butter sculpture...but it was fun. Will and Elsie did get to slide down one of those huge slides on burlap bags with Auntie Julia so that was great but it was too dark to take photos at that point!

Canning

We have been busy...making jam/jelly and canning peaches and relish. It has been fun. We have bought a lot of fruit at the farmers market but we are so pleased with the out come. The jams have all been delicious and we can only assume the peaches are too though we have not opened one yet! One fun thing we tried and love is Lime Jelly. It is amazing and such a great flavor but of course we had to buy the limes at the store.

Talks in Church (Primary)

Talks in Primary are always fun. Will had to memorize his talks when he was a child and so that is what he wants Elsie to do too.  So we write the talk with simple repetitive sentences and print out pictures to go with each sentence or two. Some times she has to memorize a scripture too. It seems to work out well. I have been trying to get the videos to upload for two talks she did but can't seem to get blogger to do it. So they were cute...and happened on June 17th (father's day??) and September 16th. I hope to add the videos soon but here are a few shots from the pre recording on the 16th of September.

Soccer this fall

Soccer was fun this season. Elsie and her team did well and had a great time. In the first game she even scored a goal so that was cool. She sometimes would be aggressive and other times just follow the ball around but which ever approach she was using she always had a good time. We did not take as many pictures this fall as we did last spring but here are a few. The team picture is missing one little girl because she came late to the last game. So there were eight kids on her team and she was the number 3 this fall.

Ice Skating

We got a note home from school about a fun ice skating event at a local arena on one Saturday morning in September. So after soccer we went to ice skate! It was great! Elsie loved it and it was all free which was even better. To top it off there where employees there helping to teach the kids how to skate! Yup she had her very own private lesson...well there were a few other kids but I expected it to be crowded and it was not! She loved it so much we stayed the full two hours. In that time she improved enough to skate without the "buddy" (blue metal walker thing). Well she would push it away from herself and then skate to it. She could not skate across the rink but she could go a little ways! It was amazing! The bottom shot is a picture of this. We will definitely be skating in the future.
