The last week of August

As you can see Catherine has lots of cute out fits but she is growing out of them now!! She is holding up her head and upper body so high now during tummy time and is just growing so much. This was a fun week as it was Elsie's first week of school. We did not do anything too big for it but we did go out to eat the night of the first day to California Pizza Kitchen. We are so proud of our little girls.

August 26th was the...

...first Day or School! She was so excited and had a great first day of school. Only one thing went wrong. I put her in the wrong line to go in because I thought she started the day with the Spanish teacher and she actually started in the day with the English teacher. I guess they all went into the same classroom to begin with and the teachers sorted them out so it worked out ok. What happened is they moved her from one class to another over the summer. I should have checked the list in the front of the school to make sure she was in the right class but I did not!! I felt terrible and worried all day but when I picked her and her friend up she was just excited that they where now in the same class and they got to sit by each other in Spanish class. I should have known kids are so resilient.

Raspberry Jam

I have been making raspberry jam lately. Elsie even got in on the action by crushing the berries and making lime zest. I think I made five batches of cooked raspberry jam and one of raspberry lime freezer jam. So yummy on toast or on ice cream not to mention on bread with peanut butter (Elsie's favorite sandwich).

Will's Birthday

Will has passed another year by. He went to work on his birthday and then came home and we had a fun night planned for him! We made him a yummy dinner. Elsie, Catherine and I had gone to a vegan bakery earlier that day and bought a ton of yummy treats. I don't think I have mentioned it but Will is now vegan. He decided to stop eating animal products of any sort in July at some point. It has been fun trying new recipes and eating more vegetables, beans and tofu! So after we ate all our yummy vegan cupcakes and other treats we had a treasure hunt for Will. Elsie planned it all out and used her easter eggs to hide the clues in. At the end it lead him to his present, a pressure cooker for cooking rice and beans and other things.

Week Three in August

We were so excited to use our fire pit grandma gave us last year. We just never got the chance to use it before now. We were able to roast marshmallows and have s'mores too. It was great. Uncle Steven finally held Catherine so we took a picture as proof. We also went to a local farm with some good friends and had a fun time.

The Second Week in August

Catherine is just so cute and loves to smile. Elsie and I took Catherine swimming for the first time in the local community pool. She did not really react to the water that much. I guess it was just like bath water to her. Elsie had a few birthday cards she had to draw in August and on both of them she drew Catherine. It was so cute.

August Week One

Elsie finally got to have her lemonade stand. We told everyone at playgroup that we would be having one. So we hurried home made some rice crispy squares and lemonade and set it up! Elsie loved it and though was a bit shy she did well serving her customers. Everything was 25 cents and so it was very affordable. But she still made around 10 dollars which seems like a lot to me! The rest of the week was pretty melow. I made pita bread on Sunday night to go with our falafel which was really yummy. Our cherry tomato plant, up on the hill, started producing too! It is huge so we got a lot and let me tell you it is now late September and we are still getting a ton of tomatoes.
