Christmas morning

Christmas morning was great. Elsie came out and just looked at the amazing pile of presents and smiled. She passed out the presents again this year and everyone had fun opening and sharing gifts. Tyler and Katie made it after having their own Christmas morning as a couple.  Then we had breakfast which they brought. After breakfast we played Jenga a game which Elsie's got from Grammy. Jenga is the game where you pile small blocks in a tower and slowly move the blocks higher and higher. It was a fun way to end a good morning.

What Elsie woke up to

This is what it looked like when Elsie woke up Christmas morning. She got up at a reasonable hour if i remember correctly, sometime between 7 and 8.

The problem was she stayed up really late. Will had put her to bed and left her in her room to go to sleep. He then went down stairs to help put the bike together, I was busy elsewhere at this point. Elsie heard her dad and aunt and uncle down stairs so she decided to check it out! I was not there but apparently her aunt saw her standing in the open doorway looking at the bike and yelled "Oh crap" or shoot or something and slammed the door in her face. Elsie ran up the stairs and Will raced after her and asked her what she saw. She whispered "a bike". But she was happy so who really cares anyway! The surprise and excitement of it all kept her up for quite awhile though. Now we have a fun story to tell everyone about Christmas in 2012.

Christmas Eve 2012

We did our usual Christmas Eve celebration. I cooked a meal (ham and mashed potatoes and lots so veggies, this year) and Will's mom and unmarried siblings came over to hang out and eat. Will's mom and sister spent the night so they could be here for the fun the next morning. But his brother did come back the next morning so he was not left out either.

Our tradition is to let Elsie open one present on Christmas Eve. This year she got to open two. One of her choice and one with some new pj's in it. It was a fun night.
