More photos

Elsie had fun reading to Catherine one of the first nights she was home with us. She is such a great big helper and she really loved her little sister. She can not get enough!

Pictures of our baby

Here are a few photos of us in the hospital and when we first got home.

Announcing

The newest member of our family! Catherine Christina Angel was born on May 20th at 7:26 pm. She weighed 6lbs 10oz and was 19 inches long.

This story begins a long time ago...when we decided to adopt. Back in February of 2012. We moved forward with getting approved to adopt and were approved through one agency at the beginning of June. We waited and waited then decided to go through two other agencies and see if that could help us find our little someone. Our book was shown to the first couple mid March 2013. There were others we had our book shown to along the way. Then on April 6th we got a call saying that we could have a baby girl if we went to Nevada to pick her up. We drove down on April 7th and had that sweet baby girl in our arms for 3 hours until the birth mother came to the hospital to discharge her because she chose to parent her herself. It was heart breaking. But we moved forward and kept trying.

We where told about our birth mom on May 1st. We decided to have our book shown to her. After almost a week of waiting we got the call that she had picked us on the 8th of May. She was due May 28th so we still had to wait. We waited and then on the 14th we heard from our case worker that the birth mom was going to be induced in a week. So we got to work and set things up. Cleaned things and  prepared for a baby. On Monday the 20th of May we got a call that the birth mom had gone into labor a day before she was scheduled to be induced. Soon after the first call we heard she had had the baby girl and that we should go to the hospital.

We got to the hospital at around 8pm. Catherine was in the nursery and had just finished her first bath. The nurse was checking her out and telling us all about her! She was perfect! She is perfect! They gave us a room and we stayed there that night and fed and changed her all night. The birth mom decided she wanted to meet Catherine the next day so the case worker took her down and they spent a little time together. We stayed at the hospital taking care of her and falling in love. The birth mom saw her one more time that afternoon. The night of the 21st we signed all the paperwork and Catherine was officially ours. We spent that night to and were discharged the following day on Wednesday the 22nd.

We have been with her here ever since and we love her to the moon and back. Elsie is doing great being a big sister and a great helper. Catherine is a happy baby and does really well in the eating department. We are so blessed and so happy to have this little girl be part of our family!

1 Samuel 1:27 For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him:

Elsie can ride...

her bike with no training wheals! We took them off a while ago but she hardly ever practiced and I was too scared of letting go of her. But Grandma wasn't! Yup one try with Grandma and she was off!

Mother's Day

Here we are on Mother's day 2013! We had Will's mom and siblings over for dinner which was fun. Will did most of the cooking...I made the cookies for dessert. It was yummy food. I think Will finally realized all the work that goes into cooking for a bunch of people! He usually is doing other things while I cook but not on Mother's day! Also that morning Will and Elsie made me some waffles and we had a very nice breakfast together.

New book shelves

We did a bit of reorganizing trying to get ready for the baby. We bought these book selves and this curtain to go behind it for a head board sort of thing. You can't see but it is quilted with a grid and is very soft. I know it does not look very organized but we are still working on it. Plus we want to get a few more pillows too. Lets say it is a work in progress.

Gardening

We have done a bit of planting lately. I spent a afternoon a few weeks ago putting in a bunch of ground cover and then Elsie and I planted a few vegetables last week. We will have 2 tomato plants and hopefully cucombers. Then we planted a line of sun flowers and some beets in between.  I am not sure if all the seeds we planted are coming up. There have been a fews days when we have not watered them...which is bad! But we have been busy adopting!!

School Carnival

Two weeks ago was our school carnival! It was super fun. Elsie got to try and climb the rock wall and go on bounce houses and slides. We played games and ate snow cones! And we got to do it all with our great friends.

School trip to the Zoo

Well I got to be a chaperone on another fun field trip. This one was to the zoo. I had three girls to watch including Elsie so it was not too hard! We saw everything and had lots of fun!

Home made...

Flour tortillas. I can't remember why I did it but I wanted to try and make flour tortillas. So I did. It was not that hard to do. The only problem was I over cooked them. I was fasting at the time so I could not taste test any so they all got over cooked. Will and Elsie still loved them but I wanted mine softer. Oh well maybe next time right.

Soccer Spring 2013

Here is a the quick shot I took while the photographer was not looking as they posed for their team photo. One girl is missing which is a bummer. Elsie was on the team with one of her friends from school so that was fun to always sit together too.

She lost another tooth...

Here Elsie is she lost her 3rd tooth. The 4th one is loose but still hanging on! This one was pretty loose and it fell out at school so that was fun. The tooth fairy forgot the first night but tried again the second night and succeeded!
