Spanish preschool play

At the end of May we finished Spanish preschool for the school year. On their last day the kids put on a play with the morning class and afternoon class working together. Here are some pictures of the play (they had the performance in a community church beside the school so that is why there is a cross in the pictures). It was very cute. They danced and sang and repeated lines, like I said it was great. The play the performance was loosely based on was Peter Pan. Elsie was a flower or flor in Spanish. Her line was "Es una bomba!" or "It's a bomb". It is funny I was talking to a lady I know about the play and Spanish preschool and the lady asked Elsie what her line meant. Her reply was "I'm a bomb". Even after being corrected I still think she believes it says I'm a bomb. The costume was a group effort. I provided the headband, dress and leggings. The school did the leaves around her neck and the frilly skirt. I would have done the rest but they just did it and told me what I provided was great. The little boy beside Elsie in the picture below is a friend she made at school. But sadly he will be moving a little ways away and is starting school in the fall so no more Spanish preschool for him. We hope to still have a play date here or there with him though. I think she had a really fun time with this play and I look forward to more fun plays in the future (we will be going to the same school this summer and fall-spring).

Moab in May

Will and I wanted to get away for a weekend and since our vacation to San Francisco got postponed we decided to go to Moab. I have been wanting to go there ever since we moved out here. The red rock is amazing and all the formations are beautiful. We got there on Friday night and drove down the Colorado River a little ways out of town as the sun set. The next day we had a leisurely morning and then went for a hike. It was a beautiful day, sunny but not too hot and there was a nice breeze. I unfortunately decided not to wear a hat but put on lots of sunblock. This meant that I got a sun burn on my part. I also forgot to put sunblock on my neck so I got a burn on my neck too. Oh well I guess I did learn a lesson or two from it. Our hike was at a place called Fisher Towers about twenty miles out of town. The towers were great and the hike was an easy one.

We got an extra special treat while hiking we saw a person base jump. He climbed up the sandstone rock onto a tall formation and was at the top when we got there. He kept standing up and sitting down and spitting into the wind (another on looked had binoculars and was giving us a blow by blow of what he was doing). He eventually jumped off and then threw out his parachute and slowly glided down. There was a camera crew there filming it and a bunch of hikers had stopped to watch so it was pretty exciting to be a part of it. But it still does not make me every want to do it! Later that day we went to main street and walked around a bit.

The next day we drove around Arches National Park and saw some beautiful arches and formations. It was a great trip. We already have reservations to stay there this fall.

Tyler and Katie's wedding

Tyler got married on May 19th!! It is crazy to think that he is the same age as Will was when we got married (almost 9 years ago) because he seems so young. He married a beautiful girl named Katie and now Elsie has a new aunt! They were sealed in the Logan Temple. We drove up early with Will's other brother so we could eat at a local diner. The drive up was wet but also Elsie threw up 4 or so times. It was all dry heaves since she had not eaten yet but I felt so bad for her! I think she was just hungry and the long drive made her sick to her stomach because it was empty. The proof to support my hypothesis is she was fine the rest of the day after she ate! The first set of photos are us waiting for the bride and groom to come out and then there is the happy couple.

Playing with toys

Elsie is always playing with toys but here is something new. She made a funky set of stairs out of mega blocks and walked her little doll up it and then landed her in the tub below. It looked similar to diving off the diving board or walking the plank. I did not ask her so I guess you can decide what you think it is.

Katie's bridal shower

We welcomed a new member to our family on May 19th....Katie Coleman. She is wife to Tyler Will's youngest brother (well he does have a half brother who is much younger). So before they got hitched we had a bridal shower for her and Will's mom's side of the family. The shower for Will's dad's side got postponed but I think it should happen sometime soon. She is a great girl and we are so happy for her and Tyler. They were made for each other! Don't worry I will post more photos of the happy couple soon.

Snow on May 30th

Yes we had snow on May 30th and the mountains have gotten it a few more times since then. It is crazy I know but we still live here.
